Dr Cheryl Hawkins, an experienced psychiatrist, will lead these sessions to deepen your understanding of mental ill health and encourage you to make a difference to people in your organisation. A combination of on-line live teaching and individual learning. You will learn how to support people experiencing mental health issues. We will give you the practical skills to help, and the confidence and knowledge to have conversations around mental illness. This online course qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider, giving you: - An in-depth understanding of mental health and factors that affect wellbeing - Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues - Confidence to reassure and support a person in distress - Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening - Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support, whether that’s through self-help sites, their place of work, the NHS, or a mix, and engaging with external agencies where appropriate - Ability to support someone with a long term mental health issue or disability to thrive - Tools to look after your own mental wellbeing The course runs from 9am to 5pm each day with a mix of live Zoom sessions and other online learning such as videos and quizzes Everyone who completes the course gets: - A certificate of attendance to say you are a Mental Health First Aider - A MHFA manual to refer to whenever you need it - A workbook including some helpful tools to support your own mental health - The Line managers resource book
The course materials will be sent out 14 days before the course booking, after this time refunds are not available. However if you are unable to attend the course on the day please let me know and we can reschedule for another day.
